Eureka! - A diamond in the lab??

Today is a Saturday, and I spent my day in the lab with my friend doing some samplings. Having nothing left to do, but to wait for the PCR machine to stop, I amused myself by playing with the left over ice flakes in the polystyrene box. I made a so-called snowball and imagined myself in some western country playing in snow - gosh, that actually sounds pathetic, hahahha!

Anyways, my friend suddenly said to me;
"There's a li'l bit of liquid nitrogen left in the can right?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Come, bring it here - I bet this can make you feel happier playing with"

We placed a snowball in the polystyrene box n poured in the remaining LN into it to see what will happen to the snowball...

Random snaps
A thick smoke coming out from the polystyrene box

My friend trying to reenact the movie we watched last night - Wind Chill. I think she succeeded in being the ghost.

After the LN evaporated.

Tadaa~ it's our diy crystal-like icy-snowball.

Too bad it melted in soon after.. I was hoping it can stand in the crystal-like state till we got home..
